The kitchen.

One of my favorite rooms in the house.

When we were looking at houses,

the kitchen was the first room I wanted to see.

This kitchen blew all of the other ones away.

We love having a bar area in this house.

There's a large pantry through the arch on the left.

Whoever invented this is intelligent.  All of my spices
and sprinkles, conveniently located in these cabinets

This house is just perfect for us.

Many of the homes we looked at had

formal dining rooms, as well as eat-in-kitchen

areas.  Most of the houses that only had

an eat-in-kitchen area, didn't have the space

we needed for the hutch.  You all know

how much I love my hutch.  

This house has a HUGE dining area,

right off the kitchen.  Large enough for our

table, with the leaf in it, 6 chairs and our hutch.

We look forward to many wonderful meals

and quality time with friends and family in this

kitchen and dining area.

Home - Part 1

We are in our new house!

And I finally have pictures for you!

We have a bit more stuff than we did

the last time we both moved, so it took

a little more time to get settled.

In this post, I'm going to show you

the bedrooms and bathrooms.

The living room, kitchen, and office

are still a work in progress.

I'll post those pictures in a week or two.

Moving Day!

We sold our house...

and with only a couple of weeks

until the closing day, the military

couldn't get us on their moving schedule.

So, we had to make a quick decision

to move ourselves!  

My mom and I flew to Utah

a couple of days later.

With Eric's help and the help

of many wonderful friends,

we packed our entire house up

and loaded it into a truck in 48 hours.

Here are pictures from our adventure.

The first room we tackled - the kitchen!

We had to take a break from moving 

so the soon-to-be owners of our home 

could do the home inspection...

So Eric took us to Chick-Fil-A for a delicious lunch.

To kill a little more time, we went to

a winery in Layton Utah.

We got back to the house and worked

on packing the garage until the inspection was done.

Then, our wonderful friends, The Wilson's, brought us

some delicious BBQ for dinner.  Yum.

We continued to pack until we were 

about to fall over.  Then we decided to get a 

good night of rest so we

could finish things up the next day!

After a full day of packing.... we were tired.

We woke up the next day and packed some more.

Then around lunchtime, the truck arrived, along with

5 people from Eric's office to help us pack and load!

Eric's work friends left around 2:00.  

We got some more packing done

before the next group came to load the furniture.

Around 6:00, Rob and his son, Cary and Kristin, 

Nathan and Macy, Frank and Kelly, 

Daniel and Tiffany, and Kevin came over.

We ordered some delicious pizza 

from The Pie in Ogden for dinner.  

Then we spent many hours getting the truck loaded.

We got it all done...  

There are a few people missing from this picture - but these are our helpers.

Then we crashed...

We have a few weeks to rest before

we close on our new house and have

to unpack.  But that part is going to

be SO MUCH FUN!  I can't wait!

Memorial Day Hike

I told Eric a while ago that I would

hike Ben Lomond with him

before we left Utah.  Ben Lomond

is one of the tallest in the area.

It is 9,712 feet tall!  

Well, that day finally came.  

The hike to Ben Lomond is

about 8 miles one way. 

(doesn't it just make you tired

to think about it?!)

Needless to say, today my body

absolutely hates me.  And Oliver

has been asleep since we gave him 

a bath last night.  But the sights were

beautiful! Here's a taste of

our Memorial Day Hike!

Oliver got so hot.  Fortunately, There 

were patches of snow for him to lay on.

There were lots of big snow patches we had to travel across... slippery and scary.

That big mountain back there is Ben Lomond - still so far away!

OGDEN!

 So we walked as far as we could on the trail...

and with about a mile to go to get to the summit,

there was nothing but snow and it seemed too 

dangerous.  So we turned around a walked back.

All in all, we figure we hiked about 13 miles roundtrip.

And we saw a snake... which I did not enjoy...

Poor Oliver had to be carried part of the way back.  He was WORN out.

This is a beautiful hike for anyone

that has the opportunity.  You don't

even have to hike very far before the

scenery is gorgeous.  But if you

want to go all the way to Ben Lomond,

probably wait until July when all of the

snow has melted.
