The Air Force Academy

We made a trip to
Colorado Springs recently.

Eric had PRK (Photorefractive
Keratectomy) done at the
Air Force Academy.

PRK is basically the same
thing as LASIK -
Eric won't have to wear
glasses anymore!

Before Eric's surgery,
we had time to explore the
Air Force Academy and see a
few of the other highlights in
Colorado Springs.

"Soaring 150 feet toward the Colorado sky,
the Air Force Academy Chapel is an all-faiths
house of worship designed to meet the
spiritual needs of cadets.
It contains a separate chapel for
 four major religious faiths
Protestant, Catholic, Jewish, and Buddhist
plus an all-faiths room used by Muslim cadets
and available for members of the other faiths as well.
There are two main levels, with the Protestant nave
on the upper level and the Catholic,
Jewish, and Buddhist chapels
as well as the all-faiths room located beneath it.
Each chapel has its own entrance,
and services may be held
simultaneously without interfering with one another."

This is Eric before his surgery.
He went in armed with
hot chocolate and a huge bag
of drugs and eye drops.
The surgery went well.
He has experienced some
pain and discomfort, but
he's over the hump and should
be able to get his temporary contact
bandages taken out on Monday.

Stay tuned for the rest of
our adventure in Colorado Springs...
